WWE Crown Jewel 2019 is on Halloween night, October 31st. It comes once again from the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia where the WWE always seems to put together matches that don’t really match the rest of the year’s storytelling. It’s almost like the card is put together by a Saudi prince or something.
This event is no different as it features two extremely unique matches. The first is Cain Velasquez, making his WWE debut, facing Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship. The other is Braun Strowman taking on professional boxer Tyson Fury who is also making his WWE debut. Scratch that, his professional wrestling debut.

WWE has really put themselves into a corner with some of these matches. You have the match between Braun Strowman and Tyson Fury that has the boxing champ as a huge favorite here.
It’s hard to imagine Fury coming back for many more matches here as he’s still an active boxer, but the odds would show that he didn’t sign up for this one to lose. Braun Strowman seems like a good bet because a wrestler should win a match like this, but that has never been WWE’s way of doing things. From Mr. T to Lawrence Taylor to Floyd Mayweather, celebrities tend to get the win.
The match between Cain Velasquez and Brock Lesnar is even more confusing. Brock Lesnar just won the title and he’s meant to be someone that SmackDown on Fox is really being built behind. He’s a recognizable mainstream face and this is a match that Fox clearly wanted.
Yet it’s hard to imagine Cain getting the win here. This is his first ever WWE match and the reactions to him have been quieter than expected. For WWE to give him their biggest title by beating one of their biggest stars in his very first WWE match is a big, big ask. This company has made some weird decisions before, but this one would be an all-time shocker.
A screwy finish is a high possibility here, but Brock Lesnar at +150 is a solid bet. I can see him getting the win and then taking some time off the main roster to train for a bit. Then again, I could see a screwy finish that leads to a rematch at Survivor Series as well. I just don’t see a new champion which makes Brock a solid play.

As for Seth Rollins vs. The Fiend, well, Rollins is the Universal champion of Monday Night Raw. Bray Wyatt is a SmackDown wrestler. It’s hard to imagine WWE putting their two most prestigious titles on the same show. Plus, being in Saudi Arabia makes it easier for WWE to have Rollins beat The Fiend without some of the more vocal members of the WWE Universe having their say about it.
