With high street betting shops currently closed or reopening slowly due to the ongoing situation, many punters have been left in unpaid betting winnings limbo. There are likely to be hundreds or more of UK bettors that are owed winnings from unpaid betting slips placed in shops rather than online in early March.
Sport went into lockdown the weekend after the Cheltenham Festival and it was a week that also included European Champions League football and Premier League Darts, to name but a few of the events that week. These are all heavily bet on events so those estimate are likely to be conservative at best.
We know that, while casinos are opening up again on July 04, betting shops can reopen on June 15. However, plenty still won’t be open for a while so are those lucky/unlucky punters going to have to wait for payment? Well, some will and some wont.
Bets placed at independent shops without a web presence are obviously unable to payout until they reopen, but what about the online big boys?
Ladbrokes Betting Shops
Paddy Power
Well, Paddy Power are honouring any winning bets placed in Paddy Power shops between March 1st through 20th.
Customers will need to either already be a registered account holder or open a new account, after which they can email a photo of their winning betting slip, name, online username and contact number to shopwinnings@paddypower.com and Paddy will take it from there. Paddy Power have said they are reopening all shops in England on 15th June.
You can find more details on the Paddy Power site by clicking here.
Betfred
Betfred are offering something similar, if achieved over a longer process. Fred are asking Betfred online account holders to post the original betting slip to Transfer of Slips, Betfred, Spectrum Arena, Birchwood, Warrington, WA3 7PQ.
Customers should also remember to include their username, address and contact number. Find more information on the Betfred site.
William Hill
For any one locked out of their winnings at William Hill, betting slip numbers can be added on the William Hill Plus site, regardless if they are Plus account holders or not.
Details are light, but once a case sensitive betting slip number has been entered, the betting giant will walk you through the rest of the process. William Hill also plans to start reopening its high street betting shops very soon.
Visit William Hill for more.
Ladbrokes
As for Ladbrokes, they are paying out on bets with a return of £10 or more. To claim, winners can email retailcustomercare@ladbrokes.co.uk and include a clear photo of your wining slip, bet number and Grid username if you have one. Bet numbers placed over the counter are 14 digits long and located above the barcode.
Ladbrokes Shop Opening Times
Self-Service Betting terminal slips’ bet numbers are also 14 digits long and start with a ‘B’ or ‘V’. FOBT receipts will also honoured and the number for these are 18 digits and are located just above the barcode.
Again see Ladbrokes for details.
Coral
As you might expect from Ladbrokes’ stable mate Coral, claiming winnings work pretty much the same way. Just email a clear image of your winning bet receipt so long as you have won a minimum of £10, along with name, email and telephone number and, of course, the all-important bet number to customercare@coral.co.uk.
Counter bet numbers are 12 digits long, self service bets are 14 digits long and gaming machine numbers are 18 digit long. If you gave a Coral Connect number, remember to include that too. More info at Coral.
Sneeze Screens Installed For Shop Re-openings
Ladbrokes Betting Shops Edinburgh
From June 15, betting shops are set to reopen in England only and, in an effort to comply with social distancing guidelines, Ladbrokes and Coral have installed sneeze screens at counters.
Other measures include, extra customer signage, stylus pens, dividing partitions, plastic screen barriers and measured out signs on the floor to keep people remote from one another. Betting slips will still be the same.
Ladbrokes Shops Closing
Punters will still be able to sit normally and play at FOBT in any of the 2,445 Coral and Ladbrokes shops, but, as expected, limitations on customer numbers will be introduced depending on the size of the branch. Because queues are likely, customers are advised to place bets earlier. Interestingly, cash payments will be accepted although contactless payments will be preferred for obvious reasons.
Kenny Alexander, the CEO of GVC Holdings, said;
“We are very pleased to be reopening our shops in England as the UK begins the first steps in returning to some form of normality. Ever since the lockdown was introduced, we have been working tirelessly on a plan which will deliver the safest possible environment for both our customers and our people. I am confident we have achieved that and look forward to welcoming our customers back in the near future.”
Ladbrokes Shop Opening Hours
Betting shops in the Republic of Ireland are also able to open for business as of Monday June 15.
