Wolverhampton Racecourse
Wolverhampton Racecourse is a left-handed all-weather course and is the UK’s busiest racecourse with both afternoon and evening fixtures on the Flat all-weather track.
Wolves were the first UK racecourse to use a Tapeta racing surface, with the first meeting on Tapeta being held on the 11th August 2014 and was Britain’s first floodlit racecourse.
Tapeta is more akin to the Fibresand of Southwell, as oppose to the Polytrack of the other all-weather tracks.
The course is only one mile all the way around and its oval shape means that it is very similar in configuration to most US racetracks.
Wolverhampton is tight with a short straight and like most of the all-weather tracks tend to suit horses that race handy, as it’s very difficult to make up ground from the rear.

Pace
Pace stats for the entire All-Weather tracks as a comparison.
As we can see, on the whole front running sorts fair best, however, Newcastle does favour the hold up’s as much as those who like to race prominently (‘a‘ very nearly equals ‘b‘) and what we will consider when analysing each course.
Draw & Pace
The draw and heat map both show a heavy influence to front running sorts from a low/mid draw – those drawn high are adversely affected.
